Sustainability Leadership
"The reality today is that we are all interdependent and have to co-exist on this small planet. Therefore, the only sensible and intelligent way of resolving differences and clashes of interests, whether between individuals or nations, is through dialogue."
Facilitating Awareness, Dialogue, Harmony and Resolution
By facilitating open dialogue sessions, online and in-person, we seek to nurture greater levels of community and collaboration among and between groups of people, across private, community and civil service organisations.
We facilitate these important conversations using tools and techniques that help to access and address underlying structural challenges to complex human-issues, both within organisations and communities.
We utilise our experience and knowledge across systems coaching, facilitation, deep relating and mediation to support emergent, meaningful and transformative outcomes.
Uncovering and seeing these human systems we are part of and subject to requires that we communicate with each other in new and more open ways. Doing so helps to open up our capacity for greater understanding and shifts within and between each other for intra- and inter-being consciousness.
Developing Collective Understanding, Intention and Climate Action
We've exceeded planetary boundaries. Eight of the hottest years on record have occurred since 2010 and the last five years are at the top of that list. In 2023, temperatures exceeded the 1.5 deg Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures (APIT) and on pace to see temperatures rise to 4.1 deg APIT by 2100. This path would result in utter catastrophe for human civilisation as we know it by mid-century.
How did we get here? Our addiction to fossil fuels, inspired by our drive to consume and underwritten by our mental model of earthly dominion, has created then pushed us to ignore, avoid, deny and put off addressing our own existential challenge, to the point that we have created the 6th Great Mass Extinction, while endangering our own existence. In short, the cultural, economic and governance systems we are indoctrinated into have limited our perception of climate reality
This is a fundamental human problem, not an environmental one. We will not survive this problem of our own making unless we identify and begin to do everything we can do to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to what cannot be mitigated. This starts with more people understanding the basics of climate science, learning the 'language' and engaging in dialogue.
Facilitated climate workshops
We facilitate experiential simulations utilising a sophisticated, interactive, dynamic climate model built on the best science of today. This climate simulator, En-ROADS, was created via a joint project between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Climate Interactive. As one of their ambassadors, Alignment Coaching & Consulting utilises this model as a base to explore next steps for organisations and communities to address this incredibly important challenge.
While the simulator itself allows for participants to explore the impacts of shifting policies and human activity might have on greenhouse gases and global temperatures for the remainder of this century, the real value comes from the depth of conversation facilitated by AlignmentCC.
This includes the recognition that climate is but one piece of the puzzle we face. Addressing our economic, social, governance and even political challenges are all interwoven into the dialogue. Finding ways to 'multi-solve' these interdependent challenges results in new awareness of the systems and how they work.
